Abstract

This paper presents an intelligent control strategy to improve power sharing between parallel-connected boost converters in micro-grids. Micro-grids contain renewable energy sources along power electronics to generate electricity. Due to the importance of renewable energy sources, connecting these sources with power electronics creates challenges. This paper presents one of these challenges and the method to solve it. The method is based on a recurrent artificial neural network that implements the well-known vector control strategy to determine the switching states of the pulse width modulation (PWM) based controlled boost converters optimally. Nested in the inner current control loop, the neural network based current controller tries to minimize the circulating current by reducing dq current errors and generates the dq voltage reference to derive PWM converters. This also results in the power difference between the converters. The simulation results using MATLAB/SIMULINK are provided to validate effectiveness of the proposed control strategy
